HLA-G 5′URR regulatory polymorphisms are associated with the risk of developing gliomas

Vladimira Durmanova et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the association between HLA-G 5 ' URR variants and risk of developing gliomas. The results showed that certain HLA-G 5 ' URR variants were more frequent in glioma patients and tended to be associated with early onset of the disease. These findings suggest a possible genetic association between HLA-G 5 ' URR variants and glioma development and contribution to disease pathology.

HLA-G 14 bp In/Del and+3142 C/G genotypes are differentially expressed between patients with grade IV gliomas and controls

Kenia Cristina S. F. de Magalhaes et al.

Summary: The study revealed higher levels of sHLA-G in high-grade glioma patients, with an association between 14bp In/Del and +3142 C/G genotypes and high sHLA-G levels. Tissue HLA-G expression was also higher in high-grade gliomas, suggesting a potential for worse prognosis in patients.

Immunomodulating functions of human leukocyte antigen-G and its role in graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Xiaoyin Bu et al.

Summary: Allo-HSCT is a potential curative strategy for hematological malignancies, but GVHD remains a serious complication. HLA-G, as a non-classical MHC class I molecule, plays a key role in immune tolerance and regulation of GVHD. It can serve as a predictor and therapeutic target for GVHD.

Cancer Immune Evasion Through Loss of MHC Class I Antigen Presentation

Karthik Dhatchinamoorthy et al.

Summary: Loss of MHC I antigen presentation is common in many cancers, which may impair immune responses and affect the efficacy of immunotherapy. Studies have discussed underlying mechanisms through which some cancers evade immune killing by shutting down the MHC I pathway, and proposed potential strategies to overcome this limitation.
