Non-target metabolomics based on high-resolution mass spectrometry combined with chemometric analysis for discriminating geographical origins of Rhizoma Coptidis

Shurui Cao et al.

Summary: Non-target metabolomics combined with chemometric analysis was used to determine the origins of Rhizoma Coptis and find differential markers, successfully identifying 11 discrimination markers for distinguishing samples from different regions. The established models based on these markers could accurately predict the geographic origins of Rhizoma Coptidis samples, providing guidance for discriminating origins of Rhizoma Coptis.

Alkaloids from Lepidium meyenii (Maca), structural revision of macaridine and UPLC-MS/MS feature-based molecular networking

Hien T. N. Le et al.

Summary: The study utilized a multidisciplinary approach to analyze the phytochemical profile of Lepidium meyenii, leading to the identification of three new imidazole alkaloids, two amidine alkaloids, and the first discovery of a well-known beta-carboline alkaloid in the plant. Molecular networking was used to tentatively identify three new analogues, while a previously reported compound was revised based on DFT calculations and NMR data comparison.

Metabolomics analysis of dandelions from different geographical regions in China

Songbao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed metabolites from dandelions from four different geographical regions in China using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The results showed noticeable differences in the chemical components of dandelions, mainly phenolic compounds. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis indicated that the main metabolic pathways involved in dandelions were biosynthesis of phenylpropanoids and flavonoids.

Maca extracts regulate glucose and lipid metabolism in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells via the PI3K/AKT signalling pathway

Aimin Li et al.

Summary: The study found that the ethanol extract and subfractions of maca exhibited certain antioxidant capacity, especially the NBT subfraction which can reverse glucose and lipid metabolic disorders in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells and enhance the expression of PI3K and AKT. The LC-MS/MS results demonstrated that the NBT subfraction contained numerous active ingredients, suggesting a beneficial potential in improving or treating metabolic disorders.
