Alternative fuel options for low carbon maritime transportation: Pathways to 2050

Hui Xing et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the importance of achieving low carbon shipping by 2050 and the role of alternative marine fuels in this process. Zero carbon synthetic fuels may play a key role in domestic and short sea shipping, while methanol appears to be the most promising fuel option for global shipping.

The Correlation of Biodiesel Blends with the Common Rail Diesel Engine's Performance and Emission Characteristics

Tuan Nghia Nguyen et al.

Summary: Research indicates that as the proportion of biodiesel increases, the average reduction in brake power decreases relative to the biodiesel ratio in the fuel mixture. As the biodiesel ratio increases, specific fuel consumption of the brakes (BSFC) and NOx emissions increase, while emissions of smoke, hydrocarbon (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO) decrease.

The Internal Residual Gas and Effective Release Energy of a Spark-Ignition Engine with Various Inlet Port-Bore Ratios and Full Load Condition

Nguyen Xuan Khoa et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of inlet port diameter-bore ratios (IPD/B) on the effective release energy and internal exhaust residual gas of a spark-ignition engine. Results show that the IPD/B ratio has a significant effect on residual gas and effective release energy, with the engine showing maximum energy release at an IPD/B ratio of 0.4. The emission of HC and CO decreases, while NOx initially increases before decreasing after reaching a peak.

Fuel performance for stable homogeneous gasoline-methanol-ethanol blends

Budi Waluyo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fuel performance of stable homogeneous gasoline-methanol-ethanol blends. Results showed that after adding ethanol, the mixture no longer separated. In performance tests, the G-90 and G-95 blends exhibited the highest torque output.
