Superior inhibition action of the Mish Gush (MG) leaves extract toward mild steel corrosion in HCl solution: Theoretical and electrochemical studies

M. H. Shahini et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of a novel corrosion inhibitor derived from the Lamb's ear plant to reduce corrosion damage on a metal surface caused by 1 M HCl solution. The results showed that the introduction of MG extract significantly decreased surface corrosion and roughness. High inhibition efficiency was achieved with increasing MGe concentration and exposure time, reaching 96% after 4 hours with 1200 ppm of MGe. The inhibitor followed a mixed-type inhibition mechanism, with Langmuir adsorption isotherm being the most probable. Theoretical studies using MD, MC, and DFT confirmed the adsorption of inhibitors on the metallic surface.

Proanthocyanidins with Corrosion Inhibition Activity for AISI 1020 Carbon Steel under Neutral pH Conditions of Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) Husk Fibers

Douglas Guedes et al.

Summary: Coconut husk fibers were found to contain 3% of proanthocyanidins, with a high B-type procyanidin content. Extracts from the husk fibers showed promising results as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel AISI 1020 under neutral pH conditions, with the highest protective efficiency at a concentration of 1.2 g L-1. This study provides valuable insights into the industrial potential of coconut husk fibers.

Nutrients and anti-nutrients in leaf litter of four selected mangrove species from the Sundarbans, Bangladesh and their effect on shrimp (Penaeus monodon, Fabricius, 1798) post larvae

Md Iftakharul Alam et al.

Summary: The decomposition of mangrove leaf litter releases nutrients and anti-nutrients that affect water quality and food availability for shrimp. The study found that decomposing mangrove leaves stimulated natural food availability for shrimp post larvae (PL) and the anti-nutritional factors did not affect PLs at the concentrations used. Overall, mangrove leaf litter had a positive effect on shrimp performance, with S. apetala leaf litter resulting in the highest growth rate.
