Transcriptome profiling of pepper leaves by RNA-Seq during an incompatible and a compatible pepper-tobamovirus interaction

Balazs Kalapos et al.

Summary: The study found significant differences in the impact of two tobamoviruses on the transcriptome of pepper, with Obuda pepper virus markedly suppressing genes related to photosynthesis while PMMoV had minimal effect on disease signaling and defense pathways. This provides a deeper insight into the defense mechanisms underlying tobamovirus resistance in pepper.

Distinct volatile signatures of bunch rot and noble rot

Tamas Danko et al.

Summary: Simultaneous development of bunch rot and noble rot was observed on healthy Vitis vinifera cv. Furmint bunches in the Tokaj wine region in Hungary. Berries exposed to noble rot conditions showed higher levels of soluble solids and less biomass of Botrytis cinerea compared to bunch rot-affected berries. GC-MS analysis revealed distinct differences in the emission of volatile compounds between bunch rot and noble rot.
