Mirror therapy for unilateral neglect after stroke: A systematic review

Yuqian Zhang et al.

Summary: Mirror therapy is more effective than sham mirror therapy or no treatment for improving neglect and daily living activities in patients with unilateral neglect after stroke. High-quality trials with larger sample sizes are needed to determine the immediate and long-term effects of appropriate mirror therapy protocols for unilateral neglect.

Mirror therapy in upper limb motor recovery and activities of daily living, and its neural correlates in stroke individuals: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Nathalya Gardenia de Holanda Marinho Nogueira et al.

Summary: The systematic review and meta-analyses on mirror therapy for stroke patients found that mirror therapy showed better results in improving upper limb function and daily activities compared to sham therapy, especially in the subacute phase. Furthermore, mirror therapy was associated with potential neural correlates, such as cortical reorganization in areas like the primary motor cortex, precuneus, and posterior cingulate cortex.

Lower Extremity Rehabilitation in Patients with Post-Stroke Sequelae through Virtual Reality Associated with Mirror Therapy

Roxana Steliana Miclaus et al.

Summary: This study suggests that the combination of virtual reality therapy and mirror therapy in lower extremity rehabilitation after stroke may be more effective than standard physiotherapy. The results show that the experimental group had better outcomes in range of motion, muscle strength, lower extremity functionality, and postural balance compared to the control group, with significant differences in clinical status between the two groups.

Postural Difference between the Interventions Reflecting the Concept of Mirror Therapy in Healthy Subjects

Jinmin Kim et al.

Summary: This study compared the postural changes in different mirror therapy interventions and found that using a mirror caused asymmetric sitting posture, while the screen or movable device did not lead to significant postural changes.
