Combined toxicity characteristics and regulation of residual quinolone antibiotics in water environment

Zhixing Ren et al.

Summary: This study used the mixture toxicity index method to evaluate the combined toxicity of residual Quinolones on algae in different water environments. The results showed that the combined toxicity was synergistic in all environments. Factors such as ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, enrofloxacin, lomefloxacin, and their binary combinations were found to be significant in causing this synergistic effect. Molecular docking and dynamics simulations were used to reveal the mechanism and the impact of acid-base conditions on the combined toxicity.

In vivo and in silico evaluations of survival and cardiac developmental toxicity of quinolone antibiotics in zebrafish embryos (Danio rerio)

Ying Han et al.

Summary: Quinolones are the second most commonly used antibiotics in China, but they have adverse effects on both clinical and environmental aspects. This study explores the relationship between different quinolone structures and toxicity in zebrafish embryos. The research indicates that quinolones exhibit cardiac developmental toxicity potential in a dose-dependent manner, with specific structural elements affecting toxicity levels.

Combined toxicity of endocrine-disrupting chemicals: A review

Naima Hamid et al.

Summary: The review highlights the importance of combined toxicological assessment in evaluating the hazard of chemical cocktails in the environment. It focuses on the mixture toxicity of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and their effects on various physiological axes. The study emphasizes the significance of experimental design and concentration selection in mixture toxicity research, while presenting the impacts of EDC mixtures on different biological pathways.
