Interaction Effects of Temperature, Light, Nutrients, and pH on Growth and Competition of Chlorella vulgaris and Anabaena sp. Strain PCC

Shun Long Meng et al.

Summary: The interaction effects of temperature, light, nutrients, and pH on the growth and competition of Chlorella vulgaris and Anabaena sp. strain PCC were evaluated. The study revealed optimal conditions for each species in different culture systems and highlighted the significant impact of environmental factors on promoting beneficial algae growth and limiting harmful algae growth.

A molecular toolkit for the green seaweed Ulva mutabilis

Jonas Blomme et al.

Summary: In this study, a molecular cloning toolkit was developed for the green seaweed U. mutabilis, containing various entry vectors, destination vectors, and functionally validated expression vectors. The importance of endogenous regulatory sequences for transgene expression was demonstrated, and two vector architectures for transgene expression were described. The toolkit enables the study of gain-of-function lines and gene characterization in a green seaweed, paving the way for large-scale functional genomics studies.

Optimal Design of Diversion Piers of Lateral Intake Pumping Station Based on Orthogonal Test

Jiren Zhou et al.

Summary: By using orthogonal experiment and computational fluid dynamics methods, this study explores the rectification parameters of diversion piers optimized for the forebay of a pump station with a lateral angle of 45 degrees. The flow characteristics of the diversion piers under different parameter combinations are analyzed, resulting in an improved flow pattern in the forebay of the side water inlet. The rectification effect of the diversion piers is examined under 16 schemes, considering length, width, radian, and relative height, leading to a better rectification scheme and a reasonable range of values for the rectification parameters of the forebay diversion pier of the side 45 degrees bend angle pump station.
