Impact of solids retention time on the biological performance of an AnMBR treating lipid-rich synthetic dairy wastewater

Maria Alejandra Szabo-Corbacho et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of applied solids retention time (SRT) on the biological performance of an anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) treating synthetic dairy wastewater with high lipid content. The results showed that operating the AnMBR at an SRT of 40 days led to a more stable reactor performance with slightly better biological conversion.

Enhancing the recombinant protein productivity of Yarrowia lipolytica using in situ fibrous bed bioreactor

Jin-Hua Mou et al.

Summary: By comparing different bioreactor processes for the production of recombinant lipase CalB from Candida antarctica using glycerol as the main carbon source, including a newly developed isFBB bioreactor with sugarcane bagasse as cell immobilization support, it was found that the isFBB culture mode achieved significantly higher lipase titers and productivity compared to batch, PFB, and CFB cultures. These results demonstrate the efficiency of isFBB technology for recombinant enzyme production.

Physical and Biological Treatment Technologies of Slaughterhouse Wastewater: A Review

Mohammed Ali Musa et al.

Summary: Physical and biological treatment technologies are considered highly feasible and economic for treating slaughterhouse wastewater, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Anaerobic digestion technology is commonly applied for economic gain due to the presence of biodegradable organic matter in slaughterhouse waste. While physical treatments are more effective, they require a large space and intensive capital investment, and biological treatments are also effective but have longer start-up periods.
