Metabolomic serum abnormalities in dogs with hepatopathies

Carolin A. Imbery et al.

Summary: This study examined the differences in serum metabolomic parameters and patterns in dogs with congenital portosystemic shunts (cPSS) or high serum liver enzyme activities (HLEA) compared to control dogs. The results showed distinct clustering among the groups, indicating significant changes in metabolic parameters. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and prognosis of hepatopathies.

Association between ACTH stimulation test results and clinical signs in dogs with hyperadrenocorticism treated with trilostane

A. Wehner et al.

Summary: Trilostane is recommended for treating hyperadrenocorticicm in dogs. This study investigated the association between ACTH stimulation test results and clinical signs in dogs treated with trilostane. Significant differences were found in cortisol levels, polydipsia, polyuria, and owner satisfaction during the treatment, and no significant associations were identified between ACTHST results and clinical signs.

Endogenous cortisol excess confers a unique lipid signature and metabolic network

Arturo Vega-Beyhart et al.

Summary: Chronic cortisol excess leads to metabolic alterations that go beyond conventional biomarkers, particularly in patients with Cushing syndrome (CS). The extent of hypercortisolism determines lipid and amino acid concentrations, resulting in a unique metabolic signature of 20 metabolites. Cortisol excess profoundly affects the Kennedy and Lands cycle pathways.

Identification of human glucocorticoid response markers using integrated multi-omic analysis from a randomized crossover trial

Dimitrios Chantzichristos et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify and validate circulating biomarkers of glucocorticoid action through multi-omic analysis. The results revealed a transcriptomic profile and miRNA associated with glucocorticoid exposure, providing a basis for personalized glucocorticoid therapy strategies and shedding light on disease etiology related to abnormal glucocorticoid exposure.

Metabolic profiling of serum from dogs with pituitary-dependent hyperadrenocorticism

Alberto Munoz-Prieto et al.

Summary: This study compared the serum metabolites of dogs with PDH and healthy dogs using metabolomics techniques, finding 21 significantly different metabolites between the two groups, mainly concentrated on arachidonic acid, decanoic acid, and phospholipids. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the pathophysiological processes involved in PDH.
