Metabolic Interactions between Brachypodium and Pseudomonas fluorescens under Controlled Iron-Limited Conditions

This study shows that different plant pathogens significantly influence the production of fengycin, iturin, and surfactin by B. subtilis. Co-cultivation of B. subtilis with autoclaved mycelium of certain plant pathogens leads to higher production of fengycin and iturin, enhancing its antagonistic effects against some pathogens.

Summary: Phosphorous deficiency is a major challenge in global agriculture, and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) play a crucial role in providing plants with available phosphates through synergistic interaction with plant roots, ultimately improving crop productivity. The mechanism of P-solubilizing by PSB involves the production of organic acids, such as acetic acid and gluconic acid, to release phosphate from recalcitrant forms. PSB inoculation can enhance wheat root morphology, increase plant P absorption, and alleviate oxidative stress under P-deficient conditions.

Despite different activation mechanisms, PTI and ETI converge into similar downstream responses, with evidence of interactions and shared components between PRR-mediated and NLR-mediated signaling cascades. Future research on signal collaboration between PRR-initiated and NLR-initiated immunity will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the plant immune system.
