Network Analysis Based on Unique Spectral Features Enables an Efficient Selection of Genomically Diverse Operational Isolation Units

Charles Dumolin et al.

Summary: Culturomics-based bacterial diversity studies benefit from the implementation of MALDI-TOF MS to remove genomically redundant isolates. Network analysis based on unique spectral features provides a superior selection of genomically diverse OIUs compared to hierarchical clustering analysis and offers a better understanding of inter-OIU relationships.

Dereplication, Annotation, and Characterization of 74 Potential Antimicrobial Metabolites from Penicillium Sclerotiorum Using t-SNE Molecular Networks

Teo Hebra et al.

Summary: Microorganisms associated with termites have been identified as a valuable resource for discovering new chemical scaffolds or active metabolites. Through the analysis of strain extracts, a molecular network was generated, leading to the identification of an active extract of Penicillium sclerotiorum SNB-CN111 with potential pharmacological properties. The chemical diversity of the P. sclerotiorum metabolome exceeded previous literature reports, facilitating the discovery of new azaphilones with potential biological activities.
