Morphology, Anatomy and Secondary Metabolites Investigations of Premna odorata Blanco and Evaluation of Its Anti-Tuberculosis Activity Using In Vitro and In Silico Studies

Fadia S. Youssef et al.

Summary: In-depth botanical characterization of Premna odorata revealed its potential as a source of lead entities to treat tuberculosis, with trans-phytol as a key compound showing significant anti-tuberculous activity. Trans-phytol was found to inhibit the MTB C171Q receptor with a high fitting score, suggesting its therapeutic potential. Further analysis indicated that trans-phytol is safer compared to traditional anti-tuberculosis drugs, making it a promising candidate for tuberculosis treatment.
