Effects of molecular weight of chitosan on anti-inflammatory activity and modulation of intestinal microflora in an ulcerative colitis model

Wei Niu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of chitosans with different molecular weights on ulcerative colitis. It was found that chitosans with higher molecular weights showed better efficacy in ameliorating UC. The therapeutic mechanisms of chitosans involve anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, and regulation of immunoglobulin and intestinal flora, indicating their promising development prospects for UC treatment.

Mealworm Oil (MWO) Enhances Wound Healing Potential through the Activation of Fibroblast and Endothelial Cells

Joung-Hee Kim et al.

Summary: Mealworm and mealworm oil have been reported to have effects on antioxidant, anti-coagulation, anti-adipogenic, and anti-inflammatory activities. This study demonstrates that mealworm oil may promote wound healing by inducing fibroblast migration and expression of wound healing factors, as well as promoting endothelial cell tube formation and migration through VEGF/VEGFR-2-mediated signaling pathways. These findings suggest that mealworm oil could be a potential therapeutic agent for skin wound treatment.

Role of bFGF in Acquired Resistance upon Anti-VEGF Therapy in Cancer

Fatema Tuz Zahra et al.

Summary: Anti-angiogenic therapies targeting VEGF signaling have shown temporary benefits in cancer treatment, with resistance often developing due to the upregulation of other growth factors like bFGF. Recent efforts have focused on developing multi-target anti-angiogenic drugs to overcome resistance mechanisms and improve outcomes in clinical practice.
