High performance hydroxyapatite ceramics and a triply periodic minimum surface structure fabricated by digital light processing 3D printing

Yongxia Yao et al.

Summary: High performance hydroxyapatite (HA) ceramics were successfully fabricated using digital light processing (DLP) three-dimensional (3D) printing, with wet CO2 sintering atmosphere significantly improving densification and mechanical properties. The HA ceramics showed potential for bone engineering applications with improved cell vitality and proliferation, especially with the bio-inspired 3D-printed TPMS structure.

Selective laser sintering of porous Al2O3-based ceramics using both Al2O3 and SiO2 poly-hollow microspheres as raw materials

Jia-Min Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that a moderate content of SiO2 PHMs could enhance the compressive strength and reduce the porosity of Al2O3-based ceramics, while increasing the open pore size. However, an increase in the content of SiO2 PHMs to 40 wt% led to an increase in porosity and a decrease in pore size of the material. The selective laser sintering of different types of ceramic PHMs is a feasible method for producing porous ceramics with complex shapes, controllable pore sizes, and improved properties.

High temperature ceramic radomes (HTCR)-A review

Abanti Nag et al.

Summary: Radome, an enclosure for radar antenna in military aircraft and missiles, is classified based on function type and operation speed. While composite laminates are suitable for subsonic applications, ceramics are the only option for high-speed military aerospace applications. Silicon nitride based radome materials with controlled porosity are proposed as futuristic high temperature materials for supersonic applications.
