Piezoelectric Nanogenerator Based on Lead-Free Flexible PVDF-Barium Titanate Composite Films for Driving Low Power Electronics

Manisha Sahu et al.

Summary: The study focuses on developing a piezoelectric nanogenerator based on flexible polymer-ceramic composite films and finds that the introduction of BTO particles can enhance the dielectric constant and polarization of the composite film. By strategies such as internal polarization amplification, the output of single-layered devices can be increased, and the piezoelectric nanogenerator with 10 wt% BTO-PVDF CF gives a high electrical output.

Piezoelectric fiber composites with polydopamine interfacial layer for self-powered wearable biomonitoring

Yuanjie Su et al.

Summary: The study focused on doping ceramic nanofillers into polymer matrices to develop high-performance nanocomposites, with the goal of enhancing the interaction between the nanofillers and polymer matrix. Through experimental and theoretical analysis, it was found that polydopamine (PDA) coating on the ceramic nanoparticles could effectively promote the interaction, leading to improved composite performance. Based on this finding, a polydopamine modified nonwoven piezoelectric textile was successfully constructed, demonstrating outstanding sensitivity and long-term stability for wearable biomonitoring applications.

Highly radiation resistant room temperature organic perovskite halide (FAPbI3) crystal for direct detection of gamma-ray photons down to nano curie activity

Avisek Maity et al.

Summary: A simple room temperature gamma-ray detector made from highly textured crystals of organic perovskite halide formamidium lead iodide (FAPI) was reported in this study, with electrical readout using resistance changes similar to optical detectors. The detector can detect presence of gamma-rays in a wide energy range from 100 to 1250 keV with noise-limited sensitivity capable of detecting activity down to 50 nCi, and has a reasonable mu tau approximate to 5.2 x 10(-3)cm(2)V(-1) gamma-ray, making it suitable for applications requiring long exposure. Additionally, a proof of concept for wearable, low-cost, portable solid state gamma ray detectors using paper electronics based halide perovskites has been established.
