The Effect of Discontinuity Orientation and Thickness of the Weathered Layer on the Stability of Lesser Himalayan Rock Slope

Arunava Ray et al.

Summary: This study examines the effect of discontinuity orientations and thickness of the weathered layer on the stability of jointed phyllite rock slopes in the Lesser Himalayan region. Numerical simulation is used to assess the performance of the slope under different conditions. The results indicate that the stability of the slope depends on the relative orientation and distribution of the joint sets and the thickness of the weathered layer.

An Effective Artificial Intelligence Approach for Slope Stability Evaluation

Mohammad Khajehzadeh et al.

Summary: An intelligent system based on artificial neural networks and a new version of the sine cosine algorithm (SCA) is developed to evaluate and predict the factor of safety (FOS) of homogenous slopes under static and dynamic loading. The system utilizes a training dataset of 189 slopes with varying slope height, slope angle, friction angle of soil, soil cohesion, and horizontal acceleration coefficient. The developed model, with a low root mean square error and a high correlation coefficient, provides accurate predictions of FOS and slope stability under different loading conditions.

Stability prediction of a natural and man-made slope using various machine learning algorithms

Dhruva Karir et al.

Summary: This paper aims to predict the factor of safety of natural residual soil slope and man-made overburden mine dump slope using various machine learning techniques. The results indicate that tree-based algorithms have better prediction performance and interpretability compared to linear models. Additionally, machine learning models show higher efficiency in predicting the factor of safety for man-made dump slopes than natural residual soil slopes.

Slope Stability Analysis Using Rf, Gbm, Cart, Bt and Xgboost

Jayanti Prabha Bharti et al.

Summary: This study explores novel techniques for Slope Stability Classification (SSC) and uses computational algorithms to classify slopes based on 221 input datasets. By establishing the relationship between input parameters, slopes are categorized into different failure and stability classes, followed by performance analysis to compare the suitability of different models.
