Efficient bioconversion of sugarcane tops biomass into biofuel-ethanol using an optimized alkali-ionic liquid pretreatment approach

Summary: This study presents the first ever report of combinative pretreatment of sugarcane tops biomass using ionic liquid and alkali for enhanced saccharification. Optimization of the process parameters resulted in an increased reducing sugar yield. Ultrastructural analysis indicated significant alterations and disintegration of the biomass due to pretreatment.

Summary: In this study, xylooligosaccharides (XOS), a type of prebiotics, were produced from xylan extracted from sugarcane bagasse biomass using an xylosidase-free endoxylanase from Aspergillus flavus. The delignification and xylan extraction processes were optimized to achieve high xylan yield. The extracted xylan was analyzed for its structural morphology, purity, and thermal stability. XOS produced from the xylan hydrolysate showed potential for growth promotion, as well as significant antioxidant and antibacterial activities.

This research represents the first application of magnetic nanobiocatalysts for saccharification of IL-pretreated sugarcane tops biomass.
