Effect of Foliar Fertigation of Chitosan Nanoparticles on Cadmium Accumulation and Toxicity in Solanum lycopersicum

Mohammad Faizan et al.

Summary: The use of chitosan nanoparticles (CTS-NPs) shows beneficial effects on Solanum lycopersicum plants under Cd stress conditions, enhancing plant biomass and antioxidant content while reducing Cd accumulation. The foliar application of CTS-NPs proves to be an efficient approach in ameliorating the toxic effects of Cd, improving plant morphology and photosynthetic efficiency.

Cadmium threshold for acidic and multi-metal contaminated soil according to Oryza sativa L. Cadmium accumulation: Influential factors and prediction model

Jiahui Wu et al.

Summary: Soil organic matter is the key factor regulating Cd accumulation in soil-rice systems, with DTPA-extractable Cd concentration being a better predictor of Cd transportation in the system. When soil organic matter is <35 g kg(-1), the Cd-DTPA threshold is 0.16 mg kg(-1) with a likelihood of Cd-rice accumulation above the Chinese food standard limit.

Physiological, Nutritional and Metabolomic Responses of Tomato Plants After the Foliar Application of Amino Acids Aspartic Acid, Glutamic Acid and Alanine

Marina Alfosea-Simon et al.

Summary: The study showed that the application of a mixture of aspartic acid and glutamic acid on tomato seedlings can increase plant growth, while alanine application leads to decreased dry biomass. There is a synergistic effect between aspartic acid and glutamic acid, and alanine can be phytotoxic at 15 mM.

The Addition of Selenium to the Nutrient Solution Decreases Cadmium Toxicity in Pepper Plants Grown under Hydroponic Conditions

Rafael Perez-Millan et al.

Summary: The study found that under hydroponic conditions, the addition of selenium to the nutrient solution and its absorption through the roots greatly delayed and reduced the toxic effects of cadmium on pepper plants, compared to foliar application of selenium.
