A second-order space-time accurate scheme for Maxwell's equations in a Cole-Cole dispersive medium

Xixian Bai et al.

Summary: A fully implicit finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) scheme with second-order space-time accuracy for Maxwell's equations in a Cole-Cole dispersive medium is proposed and analyzed. The proposed scheme is rigorously analyzed and shown to be unconditionally stable with second-order accuracy in both time and space. Numerical examples are provided to validate the theoretical findings.

Tuning of the Dielectric Relaxation and Complex Susceptibility in a System of Polar Molecules: A Generalised Model Based on Rotational Diffusion with Resetting

Irina Petreska et al.

Summary: The application of fractional calculus in relaxation processes, especially in the context of dielectric relaxation processes, has gained significant interest. This study considers the rotational diffusion equation with a generalised memory kernel and introduces exponential resetting dynamics. The behavior of autocorrelation function and complex susceptibility confirms the tunability of dielectric relaxation dynamics through appropriate resetting rate.

Huami Tian et al.

Summary: An ADE-WLP-FDTD method based on the weighted Laguerre polynomials algorithm is developed to study wave propagation in biological tissue in the Terahertz frequency band. The modified Lorentz model is numerically solved and the effects of slide and medium parameters on THz waves propagation properties of biological tissue are investigated. This study enriches the high efficient ADE-WLP-FDTD method for terahertz imaging and tumor diagnosis.

Tomasz P. Stefanski

Summary: This paper discusses the potential applications of media described by fractional-order models in electromagnetic cloaking. Through simulation, a perfect electromagnetic active cloak is demonstrated with the use of FOM in communication with sources cancelling the scattered field. Numerous literature sources have confirmed the existence of electromagnetic media described by FOMs, indicating the need for further investigations in this area.

Formulation of Time-Fractional Electrodynamics Based on Riemann-Silberstein Vector

Tomasz P. Stefanski et al.

Summary: In this paper, the formulation of time-fractional electrodynamics using the Riemann-Silberstein vector is derived, allowing for modeling of energy dissipation and dynamics of electromagnetic systems with memory. The properties of TF Maxwell's equations are analyzed from the perspective of classical electrodynamics, and classical solutions for wave-propagation problems are derived assuming various symmetries. The results are supported by numerical simulations and analysis, with discussion on the relationship between TF Schrodinger equation and TF electrodynamics.

Fractional Derivative Modification of Drude Model

Karol Karpinski et al.

Summary: A novel two-parameter modification of a Drude model, based on fractional time derivatives, is proposed. The model introduces two separate parameters, offering a more flexible approach than most other methods found in the literature. Analytical calculations and numerical simulations show good agreement between theoretical descriptions and numerical results, with absorption coefficient and wave vector following a power law in the frequency domain, a common phenomenon in wave propagation in complex media such as biological tissues. The efficiency, accuracy, and stability of the model are validated through numerical implementation, and its applicability to medical biosensors is demonstrated on soft tissue.
