The prebiotic effects of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation: A six-week randomised intervention trial

Summary: This study compared the effects of Omega-3 and inulin on the gut microbiome, finding that inulin increased the abundance of Bifidobacterium and Lachnospiraceae, while Omega-3 increased Coprococcus and Bacteroides. Omega-3 also showed potential cardiovascular benefits mediated by its effect on gut microbial fermentation products.
