Tumor-derived extracellular vesicles: The metastatic organotropism drivers

Jafar Rezaie et al.

Summary: The communication between tumor cells and resident cells in the tissue environment is mediated through the secretion of particles called extracellular vesicles (EVs). These EVs play vital roles in tumorigenesis, including pre-metastatic niche formation and organotropic metastasis, by altering the tissue microenvironment and inducing phenotypic alterations in cells. EVs have potential therapeutic applications in cancer management as targeted therapy, cell-free therapy, drug delivery system, and diagnostic biomarker.

A systematic review on the modifications of extracellular vesicles: a revolutionized tool of nano-biotechnology

Alok Raghav et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed various methods for modifying EVs, including click chemistry, co-incubation, chemical transfection, electroporation, sonication, microfluidics, and freeze-thaw methods. Freeze-thaw approach was found to be convenient and popular for EVs modification, but producing clinical-grade EVs with GCPs remains challenging, and more research is needed to determine the best approach for cargo loading of EVs.
