Inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome by HSP90 inhibitors

Sohaib Nizami et al.

Summary: Research findings indicate that HSP90 inhibitor EC144 effectively suppresses inflammatory processes, including the activation of NLRP3, secretion of IL-1β and IL-6. The alpha isoform of HSP90 plays a crucial role in inflammatory signaling.

Age-Dependent Chronic Lung Injury and Pulmonary Fibrosis following Single Exposure to Hydrochloric Acid

Ruben M. L. Colunga Biancatelli et al.

Summary: The study found that young (p24) mice exposed to hydrochloric acid (HCl) may suffer long-term complications, characterized by stronger and more persistent inflammation and less fibrosis, mainly affecting the airways rather than lung tissue, compared to adult mice. Further research is needed to characterize time- and dose-dependent injury of HCl in young animals and to identify new key molecular targets.

Sex-Related Differences in Murine Models of Chemically Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis

Pavel Solopov et al.

Summary: In mouse models of chemically induced chronic lung injury and pulmonary fibrosis, female mice exhibited higher survival rates, less weight loss, lower levels of white blood cells and total protein content, less collagen deposition, milder pulmonary fibrosis, and lower Ashcroft scores compared to male mice. Females also showed reduced activation of transforming growth factor-beta and downstream signaling pathways, suggesting a protective mechanism against chronic complications of lung injury.

The HSP90 Inhibitor, AUY-922, Protects and Repairs Human Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells from Hydrochloric Acid-Induced Endothelial Barrier Dysfunction

Ruben M. L. Colunga Biancatelli et al.

Summary: Exposure to hydrochloric acid can impair pulmonary endothelial barrier function, but using HSP90 inhibitor AUY-922 can prevent and restore this damage. AUY-922 inhibits the molecular pathways activated by HCl, leading to cytoprotective effects.
