Role of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors (PPARs) in Trophoblast Functions

Lin Peng et al.

Summary: PPARs play vital roles in pregnancy, and dysfunctions of PPARs may lead to various related pregnancy diseases such as recurrent miscarriage and preeclampsia. This review discusses the impact of regulating PPARs on trophoblast physiological conditions and explores the underlying mechanisms of PPARs in controlling pregnancy-related processes.

MicroRNA-mRNA Networks in Pregnancy Complications: A Comprehensive Downstream Analysis of Potential Biomarkers

Asghar Ali et al.

Summary: Dysregulation of miRNAs in the placenta can affect placental development and function, and potentially serve as diagnostic biomarkers for pregnancy complications. However, the differential expression of miRNAs in maternal circulation may not always reflect placental status, making it challenging to find a reliable biomarker for placental dysfunction.

CSH RNA Interference Reduces Global Nutrient Uptake and Umbilical Blood Flow Resulting in Intrauterine Growth Restriction

Amelia R. Tanner et al.

Summary: CSH RNA interference resulted in reduced fetal and uterine weights, decreased umbilical blood flow, lower umbilical IGF1 concentrations, and decreased nutrient uptake. These findings suggest that CSH is essential for facilitating adequate blood flow for the uptake of essential oxygen, oxidative substrates, and hormones to support fetal and uterine growth.

STX2 Promotes Trophoblast Growth, Migration, and Invasion Through Activation of the PI3K-AKT Pathway in Preeclampsia

Yan Li et al.

Summary: Abnormal trophoblast behaviors during pregnancy contribute to the development of preeclampsia (PE), with Syntaxin2 (STX2) identified as a crucial epithelial mediator in various diseases. This study aimed to explore the role of STX2 in trophoblast biology and unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying its involvement in PE. Results showed that STX2 expression was downregulated in placental tissues from women with PE compared to normal pregnancies, and further experiments revealed its interaction with the PI3K subunit p85, activating the AKT signaling pathway. These findings indicate a potential diagnostic tool and therapeutic target for treating PE.

let-7 microRNAs: Their Role in Cerebral and Cardiovascular Diseases, Inflammation, Cancer, and Their Regulation

David L. Bernstein et al.

Summary: The let-7 family of microRNAs is highly expressed in the cerebral and cardiovascular systems, and plays a role in cardiovascular diseases and associated inflammation. It is involved in the development and differentiation of embryonic stem cells in the cardiovascular system, and may serve as a research focus for potential therapeutic targets in cardiovascular diseases.
