Management consensus guideline for hepatocellular carcinoma: 2020 update on surveillance, diagnosis, and systemic treatment by the Taiwan Liver Cancer Association and the Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major cause of cancer-related mortality in Taiwan. The Taiwan Liver Cancer Association and the Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan established a management consensus guideline in 2016, focusing on updating critical issues regarding surveillance, diagnosis, and systemic treatment of HCC. The updated guideline recommends the use of dynamic computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging and contrast-enhanced ultrasound for surveillance, incorporates gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosis, and summarizes multiple choices of systemic therapy. Through this update, patients with HCC can benefit from optimal diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.
