Current status of COVID-19 among hemodialysis patients in the East Azerbaijan Province of Iran

Summary: During the study conducted in East Azarbaijan Province of Iran, 670 hemodialysis patients were involved, including 44 COVID-19 patients. The findings revealed that chronic glomerulonephritis patients and individuals with blood group A had higher incidence of COVID-19, while those with blood group AB(+) and hypertension etiology of kidney failure had lower incidence. Hemodialysis patients with COVID-19 showed elevated counts of polymorphonuclears in their blood compared to nonhemodialysis COVID-19 patients. The understanding of these risk factors can help improve the management and treatment of COVID-19 in hemodialysis patients.
