Effect of palm wax on the mechanical, thermal, and moisture absorption properties of thermoplastic cassava starch composites

K. Z. Hafila et al.

Summary: The current study evaluated the characteristics of thermoplastic cassava starch (TPCS) containing various levels of palm wax, showing that incorporating palm wax significantly improves the mechanical properties of starch-based thermoplastics and enhances their moisture resistance. The samples also exhibited intermolecular interactions and hydrogen bonds between TPCS and palm wax. Overall, TPCS blended with palm wax demonstrates potential as a biodegradable material with enhanced mechanical and moisture resistance properties.

Ultrasound assisted annealing production of resistant starches type 3 from fractionated debranched starch: Structural characterization and in-vitro digestibility

Ranran Chang et al.

Summary: In this study, ultrasound assisted annealing treatment was used to prepare RS3 from fractionated debranched starch, increasing its RS content and enhancing crystallinity and enthalpy changes. This dual modification approach opens up new pathways for regulating digestibility properties of RS3 and developing low glycemic response food products.
