Lung ultrasound to quantitatively evaluate extravascular lung water content and its clinical significance

Guo Guo et al.

Summary: The study successfully established a rabbit model with increased EVLW by injecting warm normal saline into the lungs via the endotracheal tube. Different lung water content had corresponding manifestations in ultrasound and was associated with different degrees of clinical symptoms, providing valuable guidance for clinical practice.

Lung ultrasound completely replaced chest X-ray for diagnosing neonatal lung diseases: a 3-year clinical practice report from a neonatal intensive care unit in China

Yue-Qiao Gao et al.

Summary: This paper summarizes the feasibility and necessity of using lung ultrasound (LUS) instead of chest X-ray (CXR) for diagnosing neonatal lung diseases (NLDs) in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting. The clinical data and LUS examination results from 1,381 newborn infants with respiratory difficulty were collected and analyzed. The results showed that LUS could completely replace CXR for diagnosing NLDs in the NICU, with higher accuracy and reliability compared to X-ray.
