Corrosion Resistance of Aluminum-Copper Alloys with Different Grain Structures

Alejandra S. Roman et al.

Summary: Electrochemical studies and microstructure analysis were conducted on directionally solidified hypoeutectic and eutectic aluminum-copper alloys. The addition of copper in the alloys was found to increase the corrosion susceptibility due to the formation of cathodic sites, while an increase in the concentration of Al2Cu intermetallic compound resulted in higher corrosion susceptibility. The morphology of the microstructure played a crucial role in enhancing the corrosion resistance of the Al-Cu alloys.

Electrochemical Corrosion Behavior of Powder Metallurgy Ti6Al4V Alloy

Summary: The study revealed that the corrosion resistance of PM Ti6Al4V alloys improves with increasing density, with all samples showing good corrosion resistance and a minor impact of density on it. The corrosion resistance and mechanical performance of PM Ti6Al4V alloys with nearly full densification were found to be comparable to those of wrought alloys, making them promising candidates for marine applications.
