Polygenic Risk for Major Depression Interacts with Parental Criticism in Predicting Adolescent Depressive Symptom Development

Stefanie A. Nelemans et al.

Summary: This 6-year longitudinal study explored the interaction between genetic risk for major depression and critical parenting environment in predicting depressive symptom development in adolescents. The findings suggest that polygenic risk for major depression, particularly in the presence of elevated levels of critical parenting, impacts depressive symptom development from early to late adolescence.
