Summary: This study suggests that hormone replacement cycles may increase the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes such as preterm delivery, cesarean delivery, and macrosomia, while stimulated cycles may increase the risk of postterm delivery and gestational diabetes mellitus.

Suboptimal trophectoderm mitochondrial DNA level is associated with delayed blastocyst development

Frank Shao-Ying Wu et al.

Summary: This study found that D5 blastocysts had significantly higher euploidy rate and clinical pregnancy rate compared to D6 blastocysts, and D5 blastocysts also had significantly higher mean mtDNA levels than D6 blastocysts in the same ploidy and transfer outcome groups. The study concluded that mtDNA quantity could be a key factor affecting blastocyst development rate and caution must be taken when incorporating mtDNA quantity into embryo selection criteria.
