Osteocalcin and its forms respond similarly to exercise in males and females

D. Hiam et al.

Summary: Acute high intensity interval exercise leads to rapid increases in total OC and undercarboxylated OC in both males and females, with gender differences primarily present at baseline levels; following short-term high intensity interval training, there were no significant changes in OC levels, and testosterone levels may affect undercarboxylated OC levels in males.

Association of Insulin Resistance and β-cell Function With Bone Turnover Biomarkers in Dysglycemia Patients

Hui Guo et al.

Summary: The study found that individuals with more severe insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction in dysglycemia patients are associated with lower levels of bone turnover biomarkers (β-CTX, P1NP, and OC). Detecting bone turnover in diabetes or hyperglycemia patients may help predict the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, relieve patient pain, and reduce long-term treatment expenses.
