Looking the Same, but Remembering Differently: Preserved Eye-Movement Synchrony With Age During Movie Watching

Emily E. Davis et al.

Summary: The study found that there is no age-related decline in eye-movement synchrony (eye-ISC) during movie-watching for older adults compared to younger adults. Both age groups recalled a similar number of episodic details from the movie, but older adults recalled proportionally fewer episodic details due to their greater output of semantic and false information. Higher eye-ISC in both age groups was related to a higher proportion of internal details being recalled.

MEG Intersubject Phase Locking of Stimulus-Driven Activity during Naturalistic Speech Listening Correlates with Musical Training

Sebastian Puschmann et al.

Summary: This study explores the effects of musical training on the synchronization of brain regions involved in speech processing, finding that musicians exhibit increased interregional connectivity and synchronization when listening to speech. The degree of musical training positively correlates with the magnitude of neural synchronization, suggesting a link between musical expertise and enhanced processing of speech-related information.
