Summary: The Young-Laplace equation relates the curvature of the interface between two fluids to the pressure difference across that interface. It is widely used in hydrostatics to explain phenomena such as droplet shapes. In most cases, the resulting differential equations from the Y-L equation do not have analytic solutions, but there are some special cases where closed form solutions exist.
