Species diversity, molecular phylogeny and ecological habits of Cyanosporus (Polyporales, Basidiomycota) with an emphasis on Chinese collections

Shun Liu et al.

Summary: Cyanosporus is a widely distributed genus that grows on different trees and causes wood rot. This study described four new species and updated the species diversity of the genus based on molecular phylogenetic analyses and morphological observations.

Taxonomy, phylogeny and divergence times of Polyporus (Basidiomycota) and related genera

X. Ji et al.

Summary: This study conducted taxonomic and phylogenetic analyses on the genus Polyporus and its related genera, and studied the divergence times and evolutionary relationships using conserved regions of DNA fragments. The results showed that the species of Polyporus and its related genera can be divided into six different clades. Additionally, three new species of Polyporus and seven new species of Picipes were discovered.

Crystallicutis gen. nov. (Irpicaceae, Basidiomycota), including C. damiettensis sp. nov., found on Phoenix dactylifera (date palm) trunks in the Nile Delta of Egypt

Hoda M. El-Gharabawy et al.

Summary: The taxonomy of Polyporales is complex, but molecular phylogenetic analyses are helping to resolve it. A new resupinate species, Crystallicutis damiettensis sp. nov., has been discovered in Egypt, forming a distinct clade with other unnamed taxa in the family Irpicaceae. This species, associated with date palms infected by the red palm weevil, may play a role in rapid wood decay through a potentially unusual white-rot mechanism.

Species diversity, taxonomy and multi-gene phylogeny of phlebioid clade (Phanerochaetaceae, Irpicaceae, Meruliaceae) of Polyporales

Che-Chih Chen et al.

Summary: This study revised the generic classification of the phlebioid clade using morphological and phylogenetic approaches, identifying 57 genera including six new ones. Additionally, 26 new species and 18 new combinations were described, providing detailed descriptions, illustrations, and identification keys for each family.

Species Diversity and Molecular Phylogeny of Cyanosporus (Polyporales, Basidiomycota)

Shun Liu et al.

Summary: Cyanosporus is a cosmopolitan brown-rot fungal genus characterized by blue-tinted basidiocarps. Recent studies have identified five new species within this genus and transferred fifteen species from another complex. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted using various genetic markers to support these taxonomic changes.

Shun Liu et al.

Summary: Fomitopsis pinicola is a common brown-rot fungal species found in the northern hemisphere. Recent studies have identified six new species in the F. pinicola complex from East Asia, indicating limited distribution areas and host specialization in this region.

Taxonomy and Molecular Phylogeny of Phellodon (Thelephorales) with Descriptions of Four New Species from Southwest China

Chang-Ge Song et al.

Summary: Phellodon is a genus of ectomycorrhizal fungi that plays an important role in ecosystem protection by assisting plant roots in nitrogen fixation and soil nutrient absorption. Recent taxonomic and phylogenetic studies in southwestern China have led to the discovery of four new Phellodon species, each characterized by unique morphological features and molecular data.
