This article describes two new species found in Thailand, Clerodendrum peninsulare and Clerodendrum palmatolobatum, and provides information on their morphology and conservation status.
Clerodendrum peninsulare, a species restricted to upper peninsular Thailand, is described and illustrated as new to science. It has long pendulous inflorescences with white flowers similar to those of C. angustipetalum, C. nutans and C. umbratile which are also found in peninsular Thailand, but it differs in its calyx and corolla. The conservation status of C. peninsulare is assessed as Near Threatened (NT). Clerodendrum palmatolobatum, a species previously thought to be restricted to Cambodia and Vietnam, is reported in Thailand and Laos and is lectotypified. It is illustrated and compared with the morphologically similar species C. intermedium, C. japonicum and C. paniculatum. The conservation status of C. palmatolobatum is assessed as Least Concern (LC).
