Summary: Excess aldosterone is associated with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, as it activates immune cells and leads to organ damage. Studies have shown that aldosterone activates various subsets of innate and adaptive immune cells, pointing towards potential new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for diseases associated with elevated aldosterone levels.

Longitudinal high-throughput TCR repertoire profiling reveals the dynamics of T-cell memory formation after mild COVID-19 infection

Anastasia A. Minervina et al.

Summary: This study tracked changes in the T-cell repertoire of two mild COVID-19 cases and found transient clonal expansion of T-cell clones post-infection. The research revealed characteristic motifs in TCR sequences of COVID-19-reactive clones, with a preferential occurrence in publicly available datasets. Additionally, the study showed that the majority of infection-reactive clonotypes acquire memory phenotypes, indicating the potential involvement of pre-existing cross-reactive memory T cells in the immune response to SARS-CoV-2.

Profiling of T Cell Repertoire in SARS-CoV-2-Infected COVID-19 Patients Between Mild Disease and Pneumonia

Che-Mai Chang et al.

Summary: The study revealed distinct differences in the T cell receptor repertoire and SARS-CoV-2-associated TCR clusters/clonotypes between COVID-19 patients with mild disease and those with pneumonia. Patients with pneumonia showed a slight decrease in TCR repertoire diversity and a skewed CDR3 length usage compared to patients with mild disease. Moreover, SARS-CoV-2-associated TCR clusters enriched in patients with mild disease exhibited significantly higher TCR generation probabilities and shared patterns in comparison to pneumonia patients.
