Structural and Spectroscopic Effects of Li+ Substitution for Na+ in LixNa1-xCaGd0.5Ho0.05Yb0.45(MoO4)3 Scheelite-Type Upconversion Phosphors

Chang-Sung Lim et al.

Summary: A new set of triple molybdates phosphors were successfully manufactured using microwave-accompanied sol-gel-based process, and the influence of Li+ on their spectroscopic features was investigated. The crystal structures of the samples with different Li doping levels were determined, showing a linear cell volume decrease with increasing Li doping level. The study discussed the upconversion behavior, Raman spectroscopic results, and the impact of Li+ ions on the crystal structure and transition probabilities of the molybdates.

Growth, structure and optical spectroscopic properties of dysprosia-doped cubic yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) single crystals

Xing Hong et al.

Summary: Single crystals of yttria stabilized zirconia doped with dyspmsia have been prepared and characterized for their structural, spectroscopic, and optical properties. The samples exhibited cubic structure and optical emission transitions from the Dy3+ ion. With higher Dy3+ concentrations, the decay profiles of optical transitions decreased significantly, indicating increased interactions between Dy3+ ions. The single crystal with 0.5 mol% Dy2O3 showed the highest luminosity and was suitable for yellow lasers.

2.0 μm Ultra Broadband Emission from Tm3+/Ho3+ Co-Doped Gallium Tellurite Glasses for Broadband Light Sources and Tunable Fiber Lasers

Jian Yuan et al.

Summary: The influence of Tm3+ and Ho3+ contents on the 2.0 micron emission of gallium tellurite glasses was investigated, along with the emission cross section and gain coefficient of Ho3+ ions. Qualitative analysis of forward and backward energy transfer probabilities revealed the suitability of Tm3+/Ho3+ co-doped glasses for potential applications in broadband light sources and tunable fiber lasers operating in the eye-safe 2.0 micron spectral region.

Influence of HAP on the Morpho-Structural Properties and Corrosion Resistance of ZrO2-Based Composites for Biomedical Applications

Reka Barabas et al.

Summary: In this study, ZrO2-based composites were prepared by incorporating antibacterial magnesium oxide and bioactive hydroxyapatite into inert zirconia. The corrosion resistances of two metallic dental alloys coated with chitosan membrane containing these composites were investigated. The results demonstrated that the two alloys showed similar anticorrosive properties when coated with different ZrO2-based composites, possibly due to the synergetic effect between diffusion process and electrode surface roughness.

Crystal growth, structure and optical properties of Pr3+-doped yttria-stabilized zirconia single crystals*

Dai-Ni Wang et al.

Summary: The development of blue semiconductor light-emitting diodes has created potential applications for Pr-doped materials that can absorb blue light, with high-quality Pr-doped yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) single crystals grown by the optical floating zone method showing strong absorption and photoluminescence of blue light. Crystal samples prepared with 0.15 mol% Pr6O11 exhibited the best luminescence properties, while higher concentrations showed quenching effects, and the color purity of Pr-doped YSZ single crystals reached 98.9% in the orange-red region.

Optical properties of Sr2La8(SiO4)6O2 doped with Ho3+phosphor

Vijay Singh et al.

Summary: A batch of Ho3+-doped Sr2La8(SiO4)6O2 phosphors with optimized dopant concentration of 0.05 mol was successfully synthesized using the sol-gel method. These phosphors emit green light in the visible domain, making them potentially useful for white LED lighting and displays. Structural information was obtained through X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, while optical properties were explored using diffuse reflectance and photoluminescence spectral measurements.
