High expression of small nucleolar RNA host gene 3 predicts poor prognosis and promotes hone metastasis in prostate cancer by activating transforming growth factor-beta signaling

Xinhua Xi et al.

Summary: This study found that high expression of SNHG3 is associated with bone metastasis in prostate cancer, and can serve as a predictor of poor prognosis. SNHG3 enhances the transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway by targeting miR-214-3p, promoting tumor growth and bone metastasis.

Exosomal miR-4488 and miR-1273g-5p inhibit the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of transforming growth factor β2-mediated retinal pigment epithelial cells by targeting ATP-binding cassette A4

Hongtao Dong et al.

Summary: Our findings demonstrate that exosomal miR-4488 and miR-1273 g-5p can inhibit TGF-beta 2-induced EMT in ARPE-19 cells by targeting ABCA4. Overexpression of these miRNAs suppresses migration and invasion, while promoting apoptosis in the TGF-beta 2-induced ARPE-19 cells. ABCA4 serves as a target for miR-4488 and miR-1273 g-5p, and overexpressing ABCA4 can reverse the negative regulation of the exosomal miRNAs on EMT, migration, and invasion in these cells.

Sustained suppression of VEGF for treatment of retinal/choroidal vascular diseases

Peter A. Campochiaro et al.

Summary: NVAMD, DR, and RVO are eye diseases where hypoxia leads to elevated VEGF expression, with VEGF inhibition showing effective treatment. Low injection frequency in clinical practice leads to disappointing visual outcomes. New approaches providing sustained suppression of VEGF are expected to revolutionize the management of these diseases.

Long non-coding RNA histone deacetylase 4 antisense RNA 1 (HDAC4-AS1) inhibits HDAC4 expression in human ARPE-19 cells with hypoxic stress

Jie Pan et al.

Summary: The study revealed that under hypoxic conditions, HDAC4-AS1 can inhibit the expression of HDAC4 in human ARPE-19 cells by regulating HIF-1 alpha.
