Less radical surgery for early-stage cervical cancer: a systematic review

Jenny Wu et al.

Summary: A systematic review was conducted to examine the outcomes of simple hysterectomy for women with low-risk, early-stage cervical cancer. The use of less radical surgery for stage IA2 and small volume IB1 cervical cancers seems favorable, although there is concern about the impact of simple hysterectomy on survival in women with stage IB1 tumors. The available studies had moderate quality, which limited the conclusions drawn from the data.
