Environmental service-learning approach in higher education - a descriptive case study on student-led life cycle assessments of university cafeteria meals

Summary: This study shared experiences of an easy to adapt service-learning approach in a graduate course on life cycle assessment, where students conducted LCAs for meals at the university cafeteria, identifying environmental hotspots, which led to increased motivation and awareness among students towards sustainability. The study also revealed that the course design sensitized students to real-life problems, making their consumption patterns more elaborate and ecological, demonstrating the potential for digitization of higher education even in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Effectiveness of a Collaborative Platform for the Mastery of Competencies in the Distance Learning Modality during COVID-19
