Management of Periodontal Disease with Adjunctive Therapy with Ozone and Photobiomodulation (PBM): A Randomized Clinical Trial

Andrea Scribante et al.

Summary: This study compares the efficacy of ozone and photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy as adjuncts to scaling and root planing (SRP) in the treatment of periodontal disease. The results suggest that PBM may have a slightly better outcome in terms of probing pocket depth (PPD), but further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Salivary Metalloproteinase-8 and Metalloproteinase-9 Evaluation in Patients Undergoing Fixed Orthodontic Treatment before and after Periodontal Therapy

Ioana-Andreea Sioustis et al.

Summary: In this study, patients undergoing orthodontic treatment showed a significant increase in BOP, MMP-8, and MMP-9 levels one week after orthodontic appliance placement and a decrease in these parameters one month after periodontal treatment. Statistically significant correlations were found between MMP-8 levels and BOP values at different time points. MMP-8, MMP-9, and BOP could be used as biomarkers to assess the periodontal status of orthodontic patients.
