Parkinson's Disease-Related Biomarkers That May Appear in Amphetamine Abusers

Aziza Al-Rafiah et al.

Summary: This study compared the serum biomarkers of PD between amphetamine addicts and PD patients. The results showed significantly higher levels of SAP and CRP in amphetamine addicts compared to healthy controls, with levels comparable to PD patients. However, there were no significant differences between groups in complement C4 levels. Additionally, albumin levels decreased significantly and CRP/Albumin ratio increased significantly in amphetamine addicts, highlighting the potential of these inflammatory biomarkers as screening markers for PD in amphetamine addicts.
