Influence of intermolecular interactions on the formation of spontaneous orientation polarization in organic semiconducting films

Yutaka Noguchi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the formation of spontaneous orientation polarization (SOP) in evaporated films of organic light-emitting diode materials, specifically looking at the intermolecular interactions with a focus on the negative impact of the permanent dipole moment (PDM) interaction between polar molecules on SOP formation. Additionally, it was found that the surface treatment can suppress SOP formation, indicating a positive effect of the van der Waals interaction between the molecule and the substrate surface.

Enhancement of the molecular orientation of TPBi in coevaporated films of UGH-2 host molecules

Hewa Dewage Chandima Niroshan Gunawardana et al.

Summary: This study investigated the spontaneous orientation polarization (SOP) in coevaporated films of polar and nonpolar molecules. The molecular orientation of TPBi was enhanced in the UGH-2 and CBP hosts, attributed to the reduction of the electrostatic interaction between polar molecules. TPBi showed robust SOP in the UGH-2 host, contrasting with the random orientation of Ir complexes in the same host.

Reconciliation of dipole emission with detailed balance rates for the simulation of luminescence and photon recycling in perovskite solar cells

Urs Aeberhard et al.

Summary: This paper presents a theoretical description of light emission, propagation, and re-absorption in semiconductor multilayer stacks based on the transverse Green's function of the electromagnetic field in the presence of a complex dielectric. The canonical dipole emission model is parametrized in terms of local optical material constants and local quasi-Fermi level splitting to establish a detailed balance relation between local absorption and emission rates. The framework derived is shown to reproduce the generalized Kirchhoff relations between luminescent emission from metal halide perovskite slabs under uniform excitation and the slab absorptance of light with arbitrary angle of incidence.

Study on Electron Transport Characterization in TPBi Thin Films and OLED Application

Yanping Wang et al.

Summary: The study characterizes the electron transport properties of TPBi thin films and finds that its electron mobility is lower compared to other materials. The performance of red OLED devices using TPBi as the electron transport layer is also inferior to those using other materials. By analyzing the energy-level diagram and work mechanisms of the devices, the reasons for their performance differences are examined.

Active Control of Spontaneous Orientation Polarization of Tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum (Alq3) Films and Its Effect on Performance of Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Yu Esaki et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of substrate temperature on the amorphous structure and spontaneous orientation polarization (SOP) of Alq(3) films, which in turn affect the performance of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The presence of SOP improves electron injection and increases current in OLEDs, while increasing the substrate temperature for Alq(3) deposition leads to higher external quantum efficiencies and improved operational stability of OLEDs.
