New heterogeneous catalysts containing platinum group metals recovered from a spent catalytic converter

Carmen Racles et al.

Summary: The spent catalytic converter was treated to extract approximately half of its platinum group metals (PGMs) content, which were subsequently loaded onto mesoporous silica and tested as a new heterogeneous catalyst for hydrosilylation and oxidation reactions. Through these processes, complete re-valorization of the main components of the catalytic converter was achieved at laboratory level, with very low energy demanding procedures.

The effect of glucose on doxorubicin and human hemoglobin interaction: Characterization with spectroscopic techniques

Fatemeh Abri-Mehraban et al.

Summary: The study investigated the structural changes of Hb induced by DOX in the presence of different concentrations of Glc using spectroscopic techniques. Results showed that the presence of Glc alleviated the hyperchromic effect of DOX on Hb, influenced the intrinsic fluorescence and alpha-helix structure of Hb.
