Ultralow-detection limit ammonia gas sensors at room temperature based on MWCNT/WO3 nanocomposite and effect of humidity

Vu Truong Duong et al.

Summary: Nanocomposite-based NH3 gas sensors, composed of MWCNTs and WO3 nanobricks, show enhanced gas sensing characteristics with high response, ultralow limit of detection, and selectivity to NH3. The synergistic effect of p-p junction between MWCNT and WO3 surface inversion layer is responsible for the enhanced gas sensing characteristics, with response increasing as relative humidity rises.

Fabrication of ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposite sensor and investigation of its ammonia gas sensing properties at room temperature

Leila Vatandoust et al.

Summary: Ammonia is a hazardous gas that plays a vital role in industry. A study on ZnO-MWCNT nanocomposite shows that it has a rough surface which increases the sensor's surface area and contact probability with gas. The sensor demonstrates higher and more stable sensitivity to NH3 compared to ZnO sensor, but low sensitivity to CH4 and CO.

A direct relationship between the sensitivity of the sensors and the intensity of IR CO2 peak in in situ FTIR-LCR meter chemi-impedance SnO2-carbon nanoparticles polymer-based sensors in the detection of organic compounds vapor

Viola O. Okechukwu et al.

Summary: Three sensors were prepared using SnO2, carbon nanoparticles (CNPs), and cellulose acetate (CA) composites for detecting various vapor concentrations. The sensors based on SnO2:CNPs:CA showed selective response to 3-methylcyclopentanone and 2-hexanone. Sensitivity of the sensors directly relates to the IR intensity of the CO2 peak at 668 cm(-1), with more intense peaks indicating highly sensitive sensors.

Design of high-sensitivity ethanol sensor based on Pr-doped SnO2 hollow beaded tubular nanostructure

Xiaoli Xu et al.

Summary: Pr-doped SnO2 hollow beaded tubular nanostructure was synthesized using electrospinning technique with carbon spheres as sacrificial templates. The sensor showed high response value, excellent selectivity, and rapid response-recovery ability to ethanol, effectively detecting ethanol vapor as low as 2 ppm. Possible enhancement mechanisms involving the unique nanostructure, carbon templates, and Pr dopant were discussed. This research may contribute to the improvement of ethanol sensors.
