Transformation of CaSi overgrowth domains to the CaSi2 crystal phase via vacuum annealing

Tetsu Ohsuna et al.

Summary: The phase transformation of overgrown CaSi crystal on an (00l)-oriented epitaxial CaSi2 film was studied using high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy. The CaSi domain transformed to the CaSi2 phase with thin Si layers after annealing at 450 degrees C under vacuum conditions. The transformed CaSi2 crystal formed epitaxially along the under-layer epitaxial CaSi2 film.

Giant Enhancement of Seebeck Coefficient by Deformation of Silicene Buckled Structure in Calcium-Intercalated Layered Silicene Film

Tsukasa Terada et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to deform the buckled structure in layered silicene by controlling the intercalated atoms, which can significantly enhance its thermoelectric properties. The results experimentally demonstrate that by deforming the silicene buckled structure, the power factor can be greatly enhanced compared to conventional materials.

Crystal structure of thin CaSi2 films grown by radiation-induced epitaxy

Aleksey V. Kacyuba et al.

Summary: The effects of electron-beam irradiation on CaF2 films epitaxially grown on Si(111) substrate were studied using Raman spectroscopy. It was found that radiation-induced phase transition from CaF2 to CaSi2 occurs during growth and after completion of the film, with substrate heating above 300℃ required for the phase transition. The crystal structure of CaSi2 films is thickness-dependent, with thin films exhibiting a 3R structure and thicker films showing a transition to a 6R structure.
