The Potential of Caffeic Acid Lipid Nanoparticulate Systems for Skin Application: In Vitro Assays to Assess Delivery and Antioxidant Effect

Supandeep Singh Hallan et al.

Summary: The study compared solid lipid nanoparticles and ethosomes for delivering caffeic acid through the skin. It found that caffeic acid diffused 18 times slower from ethosomes compared to solid lipid nanoparticles. Additionally, ethosomes showed better transdermal delivery effects and higher antioxidant activity of caffeic acid, while solid lipid nanoparticles had a lower response. Irritation patch tests on human volunteers demonstrated that both ethosomes and solid lipid nanoparticles were safe for skin application.
