Effect of reaction conditions on the lifetime of SAPO-34 catalysts in methanol to olefins process - A review

Muhammad Sheraz Ahmad et al.

Summary: The rising demand for light olefins production due to population growth, expanding transportation network, and rapid industrialization has made methanol-to-olefins conversion the most preferred route, although high selectivity remains a challenge. Molecular sieves have been an active commercial development area for the past two decades, as they efficiently decrease coke deposition, improve mass transport, and enhance catalytic performance in methanol to olefins reaction. SAPO-34 molecular sieves are highly selective for ethylene and propylene synthesis, exhibiting the best performance for the MTO process.
