A New Family of Stoneflies (Insecta: Plecoptera), Kathroperlidae, fam. n., with a Phylogenomic Analysis of the Paraperlinae (Plecoptera: Chloroperlidae)

Eric J. South et al.

Summary: Recent molecular analyses of 94 species from 92 genera of North American Plecoptera confirmed the genus Kathroperla as sister group to Chloroperlidae + Perlodidae. Further investigation was needed due to historical classification of Kathroperla within Chloroperlidae, and both transcriptome and genome sequencing datasets were generated to test the phylogenetic placement. Molecular and morphological evidence supported the designation of Kathroperlidae as the seventeenth family of extant Plecoptera.

Two Complete Mitochondrial Genomes From Leuctridae (Plecoptera: Nemouroidea): Implications for the Phylogenetic Relationships Among Stoneflies

Jinjun Cao et al.

Summary: Family-level relationships within Plecoptera have been a focused area of research, and the phylogenetic relationships within Plecoptera need to be re-examined. By sequencing and analyzing two complete mitogenomes from the family Leuctridae, it was revealed that Plecoptera is divided into two clades, which further formed four groups.
